Travelling with Biologic Medicines
Biologic injection pen/syringe should be stored in an insulated cool container with an aim to keep the injection(s) constantly cool, but not freezing
On arrival at your destination you should put your injections in a fridge. Some biologic drugs can be kept out of the fridge for several days before being used, as long as the ambient temperature is below 25 degrees Celsius.
The information sheet, packed with each injection, will provide details on the storage requirement for each drug.
You will need a letter if you are flying, explaining what the injections are for. We would recommend that you also contact the airline you are flying with and check their own guidelines for travelling with injections.
Your injections should always be carried as ‘hand luggage’ and most airlines will require a letter to explain why you are travelling with injection medications
